With my recent move to a destination in Canada with little to no real bike parks or bike facilities for kids to develop their skills on, my community focus is now on encouraging council to approve development for new pumptracks, mountain bike parks, and bmx tracks.
The overall objective is to provide the current and next generations of Manitoba kids with some incredible facilities to enjoy and grow on!
WINNIPEG PUMPTRACKS
The first project will be the World Record held on the new pumptrack in Sage Creek Winnipeg which will increase the communities awareness of the facility and encourage more use. Our goal in doing this is to encourage local council to green light two more pumptracks in other areas of the city so that more kids have the opportunity to use tracks closer to their homes.
I will also be pushing a mental health awareness campaign with a youth focus, encouraging more kids to seek help or support in overcoming their mental health issues.
WHITESHELL MTB TRAILS
With a large and rapidly growing number of mountain bike enthusiasts in Manitoba, the need for a properly built built mountain bike park is clearly evident.
Currently there are several locations to ride, but they offer little to no real trails that have been properly built with skill development in mind, and are largely just cut and marked trails.
Whiteshell Cycling Club have become a welcome and valuable partner in helping to advance this project take its next steps with existing trail networks and local connections.
We currently have proposals in to local councils and are hoping to to get permission to develop a professionally designed network of trails that offer base skills, beginner, advanced, and pro level options for the community to use.
